Real experiences, not manufactured reputation.
TruRole publishes moderated employer and interview reviews to help candidates make informed decisions. This policy explains how reviews are collected, checked, displayed and challenged.
1. First-hand experience only
A reviewer must confirm that the review describes their own employment or interview experience. Hiring accounts cannot anonymously review themselves through the candidate-review flow. A candidate account may normally submit no more than one review for the same company in a 12-month period.
Reviews must not impersonate another person, invent employment or interview experience, coordinate a review campaign, or be submitted on behalf of a company, agency or reputation-management provider.
2. Fake and incentivised reviews are prohibited
Fake reviews are not allowed. TruRole also does not permit a review whose publication, sentiment or rating has been bought, rewarded or otherwise incentivised without clear disclosure. At launch, TruRole's policy is simpler: do not offer or accept money, gifts, discounts, employment benefits or other incentives in exchange for a TruRole review.
Companies must not pressure staff or candidates to post a particular rating, selectively solicit only positive reviewers, or retaliate against someone for a genuine critical review.
3. Moderation is viewpoint-neutral
Positive and negative reviews are assessed under the same rules. Criticism of management, culture, pay, workload, redundancy, interviews or working conditions is allowed when expressed as a genuine experience or opinion.
TruRole may reject or remove content containing harassment, threats, hate, profanity that prevents safe publication, personal contact details, doxxing, spam, targeted allegations about identifiable individuals, or unsupported allegations of criminal conduct stated as fact.
4. Ratings and summaries
Public ratings are calculated only from reviews that pass the applicable moderation and publication controls. TruRole does not invent ratings where there is no evidence and does not copy third-party review scores into its own rating.
Where a sample is too small to present a meaningful or privacy-safe salary or review aggregate, TruRole may withhold the aggregate rather than imply certainty from insufficient data. Commercial payment does not improve a company's rating, recommendation score or moderation treatment.
5. Detection, investigation and action
TruRole uses account restrictions, first-hand confirmation, duplicate/frequency controls, automated content checks and human moderation queues to reduce review manipulation. We may also consider reports, unusual submission patterns, account relationships and other proportionate integrity signals.
Suspected manipulation can result in a review being held, rejected or removed, a warning being added, an account being restricted, or related reviews being re-examined. We periodically reassess whether these controls remain effective as volume and abuse patterns change.
6. Reporting, illegal content and challenges
If you believe a review is fake, manipulated, unlawful, about the wrong company, reveals personal information, threatens or harasses someone, facilitates fraud, or otherwise contains illegal content, use the complaint route below. Businesses may challenge a review, but disagreement with genuine criticism is not by itself a reason for removal.
Where a review is challenged, TruRole may preserve relevant audit evidence while investigating and may temporarily withhold content where proportionate. Reviewers' private account identities are not displayed publicly merely because a company challenges a review. A reviewer whose content or account is restricted because of a moderation decision may also complain through the same route.
7. Formal notice about allegedly defamatory content
If you want TruRole to treat a complaint as a formal notice concerning allegedly defamatory user-generated content, identify yourself and give a working email address; identify the exact review or statement and its URL/location on TruRole; quote or clearly identify the words complained of; explain why you say they are defamatory or otherwise unlawful, including which factual allegations or opinions you dispute; state whether you have enough information to identify the person who posted it for legal proceedings; and state whether you consent to TruRole sharing your name and email address with that poster for the complaint process.
Send the notice through Contact → Make a complaint. TruRole will record the notice, preserve relevant evidence and apply the response process and time limits required by applicable law. An incomplete notice may require additional information before it can be processed as a formal defamation notice.
8. Online-safety governance
TruRole treats employer/recruiter vacancies and candidate review content as user-generated content for safety governance. Where the Online Safety Act applies, TruRole's controls include clear reporting, moderation, complaints and appeals, proportionate prevention and removal of illegal content, documented risk assessment and record keeping, and a named accountable owner. These controls do not replace police, regulator or emergency reporting where that is appropriate.
TruRole accounts are intended for adults. Because public job, graduate and apprenticeship content may nevertheless attract people under 18, the operator must maintain the required children's access assessment and apply additional safeguards if that assessment concludes that children are likely to access any part of the regulated service.
Independent research links on company pages are labelled as third-party sources. Their ratings or salary figures are not republished as TruRole ratings unless TruRole has a separate lawful basis and explicit source arrangement to do so.
